Cloudflare Temp Mail: Try the Dashboard With a Disposable Address
Cloudflare temp mail is useful when you want a clean test account: generate the address above, sign up for Cloudflare with it, and the verification email reaches this inbox within seconds.
Cloudflare runs DNS, a CDN, security services and a developer platform that includes Workers, Pages, R2 and D1. Developers often want a spare account to follow a tutorial, reproduce a bug or try a feature without touching the account that holds their production domains.
That is a good use for a disposable email. A domain you care about is a different matter, and this page is direct about where the line is.
What Cloudflare actually sends you
The verify-your-email message
Cloudflare lets you into the dashboard at once, but several features stay locked until the address is verified, including setting up a workers.dev subdomain and Email Routing.
Security and login notices
New sign-ins, password changes, API token activity and two-factor changes are all reported to the account email.
Operational alerts
Certificate renewals, nameserver changes, billing problems and attack notifications are delivered by email too. On a real site those are the messages you can't afford to miss.
Opening a Cloudflare test account with a temporary email
- Press Generate email address above and copy it.
- On the Cloudflare sign-up page, enter the address and a password.
- Click the verification link in the email that appears in the inbox above.
- Run your test. Move the account to a permanent email before adding a domain you rely on.
Cloudflare and temporary email: common questions
Can I sign up for Cloudflare with a temporary email?
Yes, for most domains. If an address is turned down, that is Cloudflare's decision, and a regular email is the way in.
Why can't I use Workers before verifying my email?
Cloudflare requires a verified address before it creates your workers.dev subdomain. Click the link in the email that arrives above, then reload the dashboard.
Is it safe to add my real domain to an account made with temp mail?
No. If you lose the inbox you can lose control of the domain's DNS. Change the account email to a permanent one first, under My Profile.
Is the Cloudflare free plan really free?
Yes. The free plan covers DNS, the CDN and a daily allowance of Workers requests, and asks for no card. Some products, such as R2, need a payment method before you can switch them on.
